Hi, My name is Andrea Mantovani. I was born in Ferrara on September 30th, 1994. At present I live in Migliarino and attend the “Vincenzo Monti” Institute in Ferrara, a “Liceo” Secondary School specializing in Financial and Legal Subjects.
I am in Year 11. Since 2007 I've been enrolling in Rimini “Renzo Pasolini” New Motor Club. I still remember that year because it saw my debut in the Italian Championship's motorbikes pre-selection junior tests.
At that time I fully won my qualifying game and I could take part in the Italian Championship Final Races. In August 2007, I could seize the oustanding and for me - unique - opportunity to test myself in the upper “big wheels” competition. So I joined in the “ Aprilia Team Selections”, a race happening promoted and sponsoured by the Aprilia Group itself along with the participation of both the Italian Federation Motorcycle Racing and “Motosprint” as well, a well-liked specialized Sports Magazine. All these promoters have always been committed to scouting around for new emerging talents.
This Trophey acted as a launching pad for just-turned thirteen agers as it enabled us to go in for a competition with 125 CV motorbikes making an exception to the Italian Regulation Code that, by rule, gives admission only to fourteen agers and over for this class of racing-competition.
In November 2007 I showed up in the Magione Motor Racing Circuit in the Province of Perugia where the Aprilia Group First Selections were held. I wasn't the only candidate. There were 250 of us and each with the same goal: be included in the upper list of 30 Aprilia's favourites. I came within the first 70 selected motorcyclists at the very beginning of the selections and I was requested shortly after to join up again in the second stage of the selection to be held in the same Motor-Racing Circuit.
I still remember that the Aprilia's Motor Racing Superintendent, Mr Giampiero Sacchi told us that chronometer was what most mattered to him in that second test.
I was in high spirits to challenge even this second exam and I came easily within the first 30 selected boys. Take note that a good part, that's to say, about 15 out of the 30 participants of this third Aprilia Trophey Edition, were already well used to compete in this kind of competition because they had already started racing back in 2006 so, they were much more experienced than me by two, three years, at least.
The year 2008 was for me a training one. I could become well acquainted with some new circuits such as the one in Misano, Mugello, Vallelunga and Magione. I'd like to precise that before that time I didn't have any idea of them. But my strong passion for competition backed me to master my skills before races, so I could learn about how to best approach the qualification races. I came sixteenth in that year's trophey and I got some remarkable achievements:
- Magione, second race: I scored the third chrono- time;
- Vallelunga, third race: I scored the seventh chrono-time.
So, with this encouraging results, I felt called up on me to go on. A year later, in 2009 I won excellent scores to begin with the Italian Championship's “ 125 cv Sport Production Trophey ” where I stepped on the podium twice:
- I came third on June 28th -> Mugello Race;
- third on August 2nd, -> Franciacorta Race;
In addition, I won two pool positions on qualification races respectively:
- on August 1st -> Franciacorta Race and
- on September 19th -> Misano Race.
Over those races I scored the top record of the two circuits with these times:
- Franciacorta Race : 1'19”186;
- Misano Race: 1'55”771 (www.civ.tv)!!
With my last brilliant result, coming 5th in the general charts of the Italian Championship's 2009 Sport Production Trophey, I think I'll be quite able to compete for the Italian Championship Award or at least I hope so!
I'll give you some little details of my 2010 sports resumé:
This has been to this day the year I ever got my best achievements and experience as well.
I came first in the Italian Championship's 125 sport “Mototemporada Romagnola FMI Trophy”;
I came fourth in the Italian Championship' s 125 “Italia Trophy”.
Take note that these two Championships are run by the same motorikers who usually race for the 125 Sport:
Total races run:9
Won races: 4
Pole positions: 6
Podium (third position): 1
Top Speed Track Record: 2
- Franciacorta - Monteporada Race : 1'18”126
Misano Race (Italian Trophy Selections) : 1'55'248
These brilliant results have made us well aware how crucial it was and is, to have both a good motorbike engineer and a fine suspension mechanic too who care for your motorcycle adjustment. Motorcycling, alike other mechanic sports, is all right and fascinating only if you get the right trustful people you can rely on; people who are blessed with professional skills and talent. This is the only way, you have to go along if you want to get a winning team. Isn't it true that a big someone of this field with a fantastic track record has so far been walking this way?!
My 2011 plan is to join in the Italian Speed Championship (C.I.V) cv 125 GP, arranged and run by The Italian Motorcycling Federation (F.M.I). The CIV contemplates eight races according to this provisional schedule:
All the races will be aired on Sunday on the following Satellite TV Channels: Raisport 1, Sportitalia (Ch. 225), SKY, ESPN Classic, MotoTv and Nuvolari(backward performances). To be more precise, Misano Race will be aired on RAI 1 for the Regions (Emilia Romagna e Marche);
Mugello Race will be aired on : Radio Blu ( only for the regions ( Toscana and Marche) – Monza Radio Reporter for the regions (Piemonte e Lombardia);
Vallelunga Race will be aired on Radio Globo for the region Lazio.
All links with the local press and media will be directly held both by the journalists on spot and by the Italian Motorcycling Federation whose official site is: www.civ.tv. All pieces of news ( even the eve of races) will be promptly notified to the different editorial and TV press offices for a sound information. This quoted Network allows any sponsor or partner to get the most of their “visibility” both on local and on national standards too.
I know motorcycling is a wonderful sport and I think I never could do without it. Moreover, if you are provided with a harmonious group, it feels to be even nicer and delightful! Before closing I would like to thank my family and all those people ( sponsors and supporters ) who are helping me all the time. Thank you all for this big amazing opportunity. I hope to make the best success of it.
